Кафедра геофизики и геоинформационных технологий КФУ продолжает оставаться самой крупной кафедрой Института геологии и нефтегазовых технологий.
Высококвалифицированный педагогический и научный состав кафедры геофизики и геоинформационных технологий, широкое внедрение компьютерных технологий в учебный и научный процесс, наличие самых современных лабораторий, учебных и научных баз позволяет кафедре геофизики и геоинформационных технологий КФУ занимать достойную позицию среди других геофизических кафедр вузов России.
Геофизика в широком смысле изучает физику твёрдой Земли, физику океанов, поверхностных вод суши и подземных вод, а также физику атмосферы.
